Meet Carly Smith: Championing Youth Living with Epilepsy — And Rocking Our Official Beanie!

Carly Smith is more than a dedicated advocate—she's a beacon of support for youth and young adults navigating the challenges of epilepsy and seizure disorders.

Through her work with the Youth Empowerment Program, Carly offers counselling, advocacy, and community connection that help young people feel seen, supported, and empowered. A graduate in Child and Youth Work (2015), Carly creates safe, inclusive spaces where youth can be themselves, build confidence, and pursue their goals. Her background in schools and mental health—especially around autism, psychiatric disorders, anxiety, and depression—shapes a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach that meets individuals where they’re at.

As an epilepsy educator, Carly leads seizure first aid training, coordinates our annual Family and Youth Conference, and even serves as a certified memory coach. Whether she's hosting support groups or connecting one-on-one, Carly’s message is clear and powerful:

“You are NOT alone.”

Carly is proudly wearing our official Epilepsy Shop beanie—a bold symbol of strength and solidarity within the epilepsy community.
